Guillermo del Toro

Guillermo del Toro Gómez; born October 9, 1964) is a Mexican director, producer, screenwriter and designer. He is mostly known for his acclaimed films, Pan's Labyrinth and theHellboy film franchise. He is a frequent collaborator with Ron Perlman, Federico Luppi and Doug Jones. His films draw heavily on sources as diverse as weird fiction, fantasy and war.

Guillermo del Toro has directed a wide variety of films, from action hero comic book adaptations (Hellboy and Blade II) to historical fantasy and horror films, two of which are set in Spain in the context of the Spanish Civil War under the authoritarian rule of Francisco Franco. These two films, El espinazo del diablo (The Devil's Backbone) and El laberinto del fauno (Pan's Labyrinth), are among his most critically acclaimed works. They share similar settings, protagonists (young children), and themes (including the relationship between fantasy/horror and the struggle to live under authoritarian or dictatorial rule) with the 1973 Spanish film The Spirit of the Beehive, widely considered to be the finest Spanish film of the 1970s.

Lesson 1: Defining Creativity

These are some images that I would like to share. I got from my friend who send me through an email. It is a forward email so I am sad to say that the source is unable to trace back. Anyway, these are really nice artwork that use normal A4 paper that we will use daily, but we never thought that it can be done in this way. It taught me that with a little creativity, we can put the things that around us into a great artwork.

Lesson 1: Defining Creativity

According to Dictionary.com, 'creativity' is an noun that have the meaning of:

1. the state or quality of being creative.

2. the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretions, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination: the need for creativity inmodern industry, creativity in the performing arts.

3. the process by which one utilizes creative ability: Extensivereading stimulated his creativily.

We have learn that anyone can be creative and being creative is a hard work. I speciall
y like one of the point from 'Demystifying the Myth of Creativity', which is number 8. Only artists need to be creative. Actually we all need to be creative. A scientist need to be creative to invent new stuff. A businessman need to be creative to come up new business plan. Even a housewife need to be creative to make some new dishes for her family.

Here I would like to share the Avatar that I have create for my friend, Ngan Wei Yee.

I have use her original smilling face to present that she is a gentle and nice person. Then I distort her facial features to cartoonize her. The black & white colors give more contrast to give more focus to the viewer.
