Lesson 5: Juxtaposition Analogy

Analogy
–noun, plural -gies.

1. a similarity between like features of two things, on which acomparison may be based: the analogy between the heartand a pump.
2. similarity or comparability: I see no analogy between yourproblem and mine.
3. Biology . an analogous relationship.
4. Linguistics . a. the process by which words or phrases are created orre-formed according to existing patterns in the language,as when shoon was re-formed as shoes, when -ize isadded to nouns like winter to form verbs, or when achild says foots for feet.
b. a form resulting from such a process.
5. Logic . a form of reasoning in which one thing is inferred tobe similar to another thing in a certain respect, on the basisof the known similarity between the things in other respects.

A man should disguise himself to protect himself.

You can choose to add sugar or milk, more or less. But you will taste what you created at last.
LOVE - CREDIT CARDS
Love isn't like credit cards. Sometimes you just don't get what you've paid.


HAPPINESS - CLOCKS
Even the time passed by, the happiness in our heart would never fate away.


PAIN - ICE-CREAM
If you can tolerate the hardship and coldness that people gave you, you will taste the sweetness soon.


LIFE - BURNING FIRE
You can live your life quietly, peaceful and never heard before by the world, like a candle. Or you can choose to bring great impact to the world, like a conflagration. It's up to you.


Lesson 5: Juxtaposition


According to Dictionary.com, 'juxtaposition' means an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, esp. for comparison or contrast. And the state of being close together or side by side. (http://dictionary.reference.com/)

Nowadays, we can see more and more movies using juxtaposition to present the story. The brave hero is not always a strong and handsome man with amour. The beatiful lady not always sitting there silly and wait for the hero rescue.

As we know that the protagonist in this movie is a hobbit/halfling, small people with the half size of the normal people. They are carefree people who no need to worry about what happening in the world. They work, eat, sleep, and sing. But Frodo for the shire was given a task that no man in the earth can accomplish. In the movie we can see how strong and determind this character is. Arwen as the heroin in this movie is a beautiful elf who lives in rivendale. She shows her bravery when saving Frodo from the 9 Nazgul on the way to rivendale.

Pestle and Mortar
The exercise for this week is pick five keywords of 'Pestle and Mortar' and think of it's function.

Keywords
1. Heavy
Mortars are heavy. Especially those big mortars made of stone.

2. Herb
People use mortar to mince herb for medical usage or gourment.

3. Strong
The user need to be strong to use the mortar because it cost a lot of energy.

4. Stone
Some mortars are made of stone so they are much more durable than the wooden mortar.

5. Big
There are big mortars that suitable to let the user to mince a huge amount of the ingredient at the same time.

Lesson 3: Mind map

This is a mind map about myself. I used photoshop to manipulate the image and added text in it.



Lesson 3: Mind map

There are a lot of ways to do a mind mapping. It can be sketches, rough text, artistic... As for me, I think that mind map serve as the function to record the idea that you brainstorm at that time, before you turn your idea to a greater work. So I think it is not neccessary to make a really nice mind mapping. It is just for you to refer after all.
